1. What is Anavar?

Anavar is the brand name for an anabolic steroid called oxandrolone. It was originally developed in the 1960s to help promote weight gain in patients recovering from surgery, infections, or severe burns.

It has also been used to help counteract muscle-wasting in conditions such as HIV/AIDS.

Anavar (oxandrolone) is a man-made synthetic version of testosterone, which is the main male sex hormone in the body.

2. Side effects of Anavar

Although Anavar is sometimes marketed as a “safe” or “mild” steroid, it can still cause serious side effects, including significant liver injury.

In adolescents, anabolic steroids may cause premature aging and stunted growth.

While there is limited research specifically on Anavar abuse, the known risks of anabolic steroid abuse include cardiovascular disease, increased risk of heart attack, liver damage, brain-related effects, and infertility.

The chemical structure of oxandrolone makes it more likely than some other steroids to cause liver damage, and in some cases this damage may become life-threatening.

Anavar may also reduce “good” cholesterol (HDL) and increase “bad” cholesterol (LDL), which can raise the risk of heart and blood vessel disease.
